Solution Limitation

Used to understand the current state of the enterprise; solution limitations describe restrictions on the full realization of business value, including constraints, defects, and challenges of existing solutions.

A Solution Limitation receives input from currently Implemented Solutions and a Solution Performance Analysis of those solutions. It provides input to Recommended Actions.

Details

Solution Limitation contains 4 attributes and 1 task:

  • Solution Limitation ID - Identifies the limitation.

  • Identify Internal Solution Component Dependencies - An existing solution component dependency that limits performance.

  • Investigate Solution Problems – A description of the problem that is limiting the existing solution.

  • Impact Assessment – A description of the impact to the current solution of the limitation.

Solution Limitations are created by the Assess Solution Limitations task.

Example

ProjectLimit1: The solution software application is not compatible with older hardware or operating systems prior to Windows 98, limiting its use in certain environments. There are 2 systems within the scope of the project, using software or hardware prior to Windows XP. These systems will upgraded prior to release of the solution.
