Governance Approach
Outlines the approach for prioritizing requirements, provides guidance for change control, identifies stakeholders with approval for decision-making and defines the process that will be utilized to manage requirement and design changes across the initiative. It also defines when approvals will take place and how they align to organizational policies.


The Governance Approach receives input from the Stakeholder Engagement Approach and the Business Analysis Approach. It is used as an input to the Information Management Approach.

Governance Approach comprises 5 elements and 1 task:
Project Name - Identifies the project the governance approach applies to.
Decision Making - A description of the decision making process when consensus could not be reached.
Change Control Process – A description of the process for controlling changes to the project.
Plan Prioritization Approach – A description of how requirements (and design) will be prioritized.
Plan for Approvals – A plan for approving project deliverables.
The Governance Approach artifact is created by the Plan Governance task.
