Design Option

Each design option represents a way to satisfy a set of requirements.

A design Option receive input from Requirements (and design), the Requirements Architecture and the Change Strategy. It provides input to the Solution Recommendation, Risk Analysis Results and Traceability.

Details

A Design Option contains 5 attributes and is produced by 1 operation.

  • Design Option Identifier - A name given to the design option.

  • Describe Design Options – A description of the components used in the design option, and the guidelines it adheres to.

  • Define Solution Approaches – A description of how the solution components will be acquired. What is purchased, what is repurposed and what is created.

  • Identify Improvement Opportunities – Statements of opportunity and business operation improvements.

  • Requirements Allocation – How the design option meets the requirements. (Used to create Traceability.)

  • The Design Option artifact is produced by the Define Design Option task.
